Kent

Visiting Kent over the weekend i took the chance to do the odd shoot in a few places. i found kent a very strange place to take pictures in as its a very falt county but has enormous amounts of natural beauty.

on the first day i visited Dymchurch a large beach with a good population of black headed gulls

afterwards i went along romney marsh in search of a invasive the marsh frog. they were introduced from hungry in the 1930s and have since spread across large parts of the south east. they are twice the size of native frogs and as well as out competing them tend to eat them!

on the way back i came across this unusual dragonfly not sure on the species but lovely coloration

Wollaton Park, Nottingham

Meeting up with a past photography tutor of mine we decided to go to Wollaton park a large deer park about 20 minutes bus ride from the city centre, its also the scene of wayne manor in the new batman film.

The building around were home to some swallows nesting and feeding their young.

Following on from the swallows we walked around the lake where using polarising sun glasses spotted a pike in the water so used the gopro to get a 'rough' shot but can always come back with more equipment.

finally one of the dogs we were walking with spotted something so i rushed to to find a female red deer in the clearing presenting a great opportunity.

Hints -

- Although dogs aren't always the best idea for wildlife shoots (especially deer) in this case it spotted the deer well before me so do have uses.

-  Getting rough or recca shots give me a idea of whats there and better prepare me for next time.

- today the conditions were rainy and very overcast but don't let this put you off as the light is very even and animals dont have the blearing sun in the eyes making them more aware of there surrounds.
